Policy on Outside Funding
Funding awarded from outside sources will reduce the student work expectation. As the grant aid in Denison’s financial aid award already equals full tuition, room, and board charges, any outside funding in excess of the work expectation will reduce Denison grant aid.

Policy on Health Insurance
Denison requires all students to maintain health insurance. Many students receive health insurance through their parents or legal guardians. However, if a student lacks sufficient health insurance coverage, then the student must purchase Denison’s Student Health Insurance Plan. For reference, the cost of this plan is $1,365 for the 2023-24 academic year.

Policy on Travel Allowance
Students are expected to pay for travel to and from campus. Modest travel and personal expense allowances are built into Denison’s cost of attendance. Students who require additional funding are invited to discuss their needs with the Office of Financial Aid. Additional funding may be available on a case-by-case basis.

Policy on Student Contribution
While students are not required to borrow to attend Denison, student loans are available to replace the work expectation. Student employment on campus is plentiful and available to all students, regardless of immigration status. Students may choose to earn more than the amount of the work expectation in the cost of attendance.

Requirements Associated with Maintaining this Award
Students must remain in good academic standing for each term in which they are enrolled, which includes maintaining a minimum 2.00 GPA. Students must also continue to make normal academic progress toward earning their bachelor’s degree in no more than four consecutive years (eight consecutive semesters). Students who take a leave of absence or interrupt their studies at Denison may be eligible to return to the campus, but will no longer receive a National College Match financial aid award. Instead, they will be subject to standard need-based financial aid policies in place at the time of their return. Additionally, to maintain the National College Match financial aid award, students must live in on-campus housing for the duration of their studies and maintain an on-campus meal plan (both of which are paid for by Denison).

Other Details
Students who match with Denison through the National College Match receive full tuition, plus housing and meals in grant aid for four years, regardless of any changes in those costs over time.
