Policy on Outside Funding
The first $1,992 of outside funding will be used to reduce the student earnings contribution. Additional funding will be used to reduce the Oberlin Grant, dollar for dollar.

Policy on Health Insurance
Oberlin requires all students to have health insurance, either through a parent or through the Oberlin Student Health Plan. The Oberlin Student Health Plan is $3,140 for the 2023-2024 school year. If you need a health plan through Oberlin, contact the Office of Financial Aid.

The $3,140 health insurance cost is not included in the $86,146 total as it is only covered IF the student needs health insurance coverage through the Oberlin Student Health Plan. If a student does need health insurance through the Oberlin Student Health Plan, Oberlin will cover the $3,140 cost for a QuestBridge College Match.

Policy on Travel Allowance
Travel cost will vary based on student location. This expense is subsidized by the summer work contribution.

Policy on Student Contribution
Oberlin expects students to contribute $2,300 from Federal Work-Student and $2,300 from summer work towards their total cost of attendance. This contribution can be put towards personal expenses, such as books and travel.

Other Details
Federal student loans are optional and may be available up to $5,500, depending on student expenses.
