Pomona College is a liberal arts college and the founding member of The Claremont Colleges, a group of five undergraduate colleges and two graduate schools, located about 35 miles east of Los Angeles. At Pomona, you have access to some 2,700 courses offered at the undergraduate colleges in the Claremont Consortium: Pomona, Scripps, Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd and Pitzer Colleges. This means you have the benefit of small classes and close faculty mentorship but also enjoy the breadth of resources available at larger universities: a major research library, seven dining halls, over 250 club and support organizations and over 6,000 potential friends.
Pomona’s location near Los Angeles allows students exciting opportunities for diverse internships, community involvement, and arts and culture. Pomona provides funding for internships locally and worldwide in a wide range of fields, from media to tech to healthcare. Funding for summer research on campus or elsewhere is also available.
Fun fact: Orientation Adventure is one of the most popular elements of Pomona’s first-year orientation. Students travel to Southern California locations like the Santa Cruz Islands or Yosemite National Park for several days of outdoor activities and bonding with their peers.
