The Vassar College QSN Chapter provides a welcoming and supportive community for its members. QuestBridge Scholars can engage in chapter activities, apply for leadership positions, and participate in opportunities offered nationwide through QuestBridge, including access to QuestBridge Alumni Association resources.
Founded in 2007, the Vassar QSN Chapter aims to provide a strong social network for low-income and first-generation students on campus, and to offer mentorship, networking opportunities, and workshops related to student success. In past years, the chapter has collaborated with Transitions, a program that helps low-income and first-generation students adjust to Vassar life, and has worked with the Office of Admission to welcome prospective QuestBridge Scholars in the spring. Throughout the academic year, the chapter has hosted programming including alumni panels, college workshops, mentoring group meet-ups, major-specific discussions, high school workshops, and study breaks.
Dedicated to building a strong community and support network, the Vassar QSN Chapter has also offered a variety of fun social events, including a Thanksgiving dinner, Fall cookie-making event, and networking dinners, in which students, professors, and faculty members from low-income backgrounds come together to discuss what it means to be a student at a top-tier institution.
In addition to group activities, there are always opportunities for underclassmen to get involved in chapter leadership and initiatives. Each year, newly appointed chapter leaders and Executive Board members work together to plan new programming to ensure chapter members feel welcomed and engaged.
